Add and update smoke alarms for social housing providers (AUS)

Learn how to add and update smoke alarm information in your Palace database.

Add a smoke alarm to a property profile

Smoke alarm information can only be added to a property profile.

  • Go to Property > Current properties
  • Search for the property address
  • Click on the property address
  • Click on the Safety tab
  • Click Add to begin adding the smoke alarm’s details

  • Click the Smoke Alarm drop-down
  • Select a name from the list

Note: The smoke alarm names are customizable and controlled via list defaults. System > List defaults > Property - Smoke Alarms. This area is permission-based. You may need to contact your system administrator to help with any changes.

  • Enter the smoke alarm’s Location
  • Enter the smoke alarm’s Expiry Date
  • Enter if the smoke alarm is new or existing under the New or Existing drop-down selection

  • Either click
    • More > Save & view to remain in the Safety tab
      or
    • Save & close to return to the list of current properties

Edit a smoke alarm’s information

Edit or update a smoke alarm’s information.

  • Go to Property > Current properties
  • Search for the property address
  • Click on the property address
  • Click on the Safety tab
  • Find the smoke alarm for which you need to update the information
  • Click on Edit

  • Update the smoke alarm’s information

  • Either click

    • More > Save & view to remain in the Safety tab
      or
    • Save & close to return to the list of current properties

Add smoke alarm test results

Add a smoke alarm’s test results to a property profile.

  • Go to Property > Current properties
  • Search for the property address
  • Click on the property address
  • Click on the Safety tab
  • Enter the test results
    • Last Checked - Date of the last check
    • Checked By - Enter the agent’s full name
    • Add Attachment - Add a certificate, a report or an image

Note: Only one item can be added as an attachment. If you have multiple items, scan them into a single PDF document to include additional pages. When an attachment is removed it will automatically be saved in the property diary for reference.

  • Smoke Alarms Tested and in Working Order - Toggle the slider if the smoke alarm was tested
  • Smoke Alarm Test Overdue Reason - Enter a description in the text box.

Note: This field is required if the last inspection date exceeds 12 months from the previous inspection date or from the property acquisition date.

Note: This text box has a character limit of 255 characters.
